Somebody else’s summer by Jean Little
This adventurous story is funny, exciting, and enticing.
Sam, a horse-loving, athletic girl who looks much older than ten, is travelling, by plane, from Vancouver to Guelph for the summer. Alex, a book-loving, shy, quiet girl who looks much younger than ten, is on the same flight. The first time the girls set eyes on each other, they quickly look away. But they are soon able to forget their differences and tell each other about their summer. Alex is going to a horse farm; she is terrified of the creatures! Sam is going to a used bookshop; she dreads having to read books all day. Soon they hatch a plan to switch places. After all, the people they are staying with have never met them. Will they pull it off for the whole summer–or will they get caught. Join Jean Little as she weaves a magnificent tale of friendship and the trials of it.

Hi Sophie, I am enjoying your blog! Some of these books are new to me, and some are old friends! I really enjoy Jean Little’s books, she understands what it’s like to be a young girl. Have you read the Borrowers? It is about a tiny family living secretly in the house of humans. Thanks for the recommendations.
